Transition to Retirement Pension Calculator

A Transition to Retirement pension specifies a minimum and a maximum amount allowable, based on the current account balance for each year. If you always take the minimum amount, the pension will last until age 100. The maximum amount allowed each year is 10% of the remaining account balance, until age 65, when the maximum amount allowed to be taken is the remaining account balance. Each year, you can nominate an amount between the minimum and maximum allowed.

This calculator displays the minimum and maximum pensions available in the first year. Click on "Display Graph" to calculate and display a graph and tables showing the minimum and maximum pensions available year by year. Any nominated pension amount or percentage will also be displayed.

Pension Start Age Between 55 and 65
Expected Retirement Balance $ Greater than zero
Estimated Fund Crediting Rate % p.a. Between 0 and 20; greater than CPI
Estimated CPI increase % p.a. (Inflation) Between 0 and 20

Nominate a Pension Amount or Percentage (if desired).

In this calculator, you can nominate a constant amount or percentage. Entering a value in one of these fields will automatically set the other to zero. If you specify an amount, the same amount will be used each year, after adding inflation. If the amount falls below the minimum, then the minimum for that year will be used; if it exceeds the maximum, then the maximum for that year will be used. If you nominate a percentage, then that percentage of the minimum amount will be added to the minimum amount for that year.

Nominated amount $
0 or between Minimum and Maximum amounts (see below)
Nominated Percentage above minimum % Between 0 and 100
0 = Minimum pension each year;
