Assumptions:
  1. The calculator initially uses an investment rate of 8.0% p.a. This is a standard rate currently recommended by ASIC (Australian Securities and Investment Commission) for use when calculating investment returns on a balanced style investment portfolio.
  2. Your benefits increase each year with investment earnings (net of tax) at a default rate of 8.0% p.a. You may change the default rate to see the effect that this may have, although the actual rate of return for your investment may differ significantly from this assumption.
  3. Contributions are assumed to be made on time and there is no interruption to your working career.
  4. Taxation of 15% has been applied to all self-employed contributions, before deduction of administration fees and any insurance premiums.
  5. Member voluntary contributions are from after-tax salary.
  6. No provision has been made for the impact of the Superannuation Surcharge.
  7. No tax has been applied to the benefit payment nor has there been any benefit payment fee deducted.
  8. The Estimated Crediting Rate selected by you is used to calculate the Projected Retirement Balance.
  9. The "present day dollars" amount is calculated by applying compound interest principles using the CPI% you have entered (default 3% p.a.).
  10. Self-employed and member contributions are increased by the CPI each year.
  11. The Administration fee is $1.50 per week with no commissions or other fees being incurred.
  12. The projected retirement balance is assumed to be paid as a lump sum and not in excess of Reasonable Benefit Limits.
