Giving Back

IFAA are proud to be able to give back to the community.  The way in which we give back varies from year to year, however here is a snapshot of activities and events that we participate in.

Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

Since 2009, IFAA staff have participated in the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal. Staff volunteer to help out with the Corporate Gift Warehouse, assisting with the sorting and distribution of gifts donated through the K-Mart Wishing Trees and through IFAA's own collection of donations. Those who participate thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to make Christmas a little more special for some less-fortunate Queensland families.

Fundraising and sponsorship

IFAA regularly participates in fundraising efforts such as Australia's Biggest Morning Tea, Daffodil Day, Red Nose Day and Young Care's Thong Day. Through these events, IFAA raises money for the Cancer Council, SIDS and young Australians with high care needs.

Over the last 12 months, IFAA have contributed sponsorship for:

  • Salvation Army
  • Flood Relief
  • Blue Care
  • Multiple Sclerosis Society of Australia
  • Walk For Life
  • The Parkinson Unity Walk
  • Young Care
  • Leukaemia Foundation
  • Australian Orangutan Project
  • Scripture Union QLD
  • Queensland Cancer Fund

Sporting events

IFAA staff also participate in a number of sporting events throughout the year:

Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlons

The Nissan/BRW Corporate Triathlon has been held for the past 20 years and IFAA has participated in the Gold Coast event for the last 7 years. Approximately 14,000 participants around Australia don their corporate colours to complete a 400m swim, 10km cycle and 4km run. In this year's event, IFAA entered 6 teams with each triathlete completing all 3 swim, cycle and run legs. A fantastic achievement - well done triathletes!

Dragon Boat Regattas

Dating back 2,000 years to Southern China, dragon boating is one of the oldest sports in the world. Since 2004, IFAA has entered teams in various Regattas including the Chinese New Year Dragon Boat Regatta at South Bank and the Cancer Council Queensland Dragon Boat Festival at Varsity Lakes. Over the last 2 events, the 'IFAA Super Slayers' and 'IFAA Water Dragons' have done extremely well placing 1st, 4th and 5th.

Mothers Day Classic Fun Run and Walk

Held at Southbank Parklands, the Mothers Day Classic brings together people who have lost someone to breast cancer and those who want to get active while donating to a worthy cause. IFAA has taken part for several years with 14 staff members completing the event last year. To date, the event has raised over $7.8 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation to fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of breast cancer.

Bridge to Brisbane Fun Run and Walk

Each year, IFAA participates in the Bridge to Brisbane. Over the years, the event has raised money for Autism Queensland, The Heart Foundation, Young Care and Surf Life Saving Australia. This year, the IFAA runners and walkers enthusiastically supported Legacy.

Local Sporting Teams

IFAA regularly enters teams in local sporting competitions such as the Fairfield Premier Touch football competition and the indoor netball competition at the West End Indoor Sports Centre.
